PLOT INSPECTIONS
Plot Inspections are responsible for quality control of garden plots and
are done on the first Saturday of every month.
We completed the first inspection of all plots on Saturday, May 7.
For the first inspection, we were looking for gardens not showing any signs
of cultivation, along with plots with excessive weeds or other signs of
disorder.
Future inspections will continue to look for plots not maintained to BARAGA
standards as outlined by the bylaws and rules.
LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
If you would like to be part of the plot inspection team, drop us a note at
inspections@baraga.ca.
It’s a non-strenuous (walking only) way to get in your community service
hours. Each inspection takes about one hour.
SUMMER GROUNDSKEEPER
Unfortunately, we just found out that our application for a Summer Student
Grant was denied this year. We are looking at some options for hiring
someone or getting a different grant.
If you know of anyone…over 18, Burnaby resident, strong and reliable who
is looking for part-time work in the outdoors, please recommend that they
contact us at directors@baraga.ca with a resume.
Currently we are looking at 20-25 hours a week to mow grass (training on
equipment provides), use weed and brush trimmers, general cleaning and
maintenance of 14-acre allotment garden.
