The History of BARAGA
The Burnaby and Region Allotment Gardens Association manages a community garden located in the Big Bend region of the City of Burnaby. Here is a brief presentation
The land area, most of which is gardened, is about 330 metres by 180 metres in size. This 5.9 hectare garden is part of the approximately 250 hectares of Burnaby land which is within the 4.7 million-hectare British Columbia Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).
BARAGA consists of 372 garden plots, each 1000 square feet (93 square metres) in size, measuring 50 feet x 20 feet. BARAGA was started in 1982 and there is a brief summary of the early days between 1982 to 1986

How to Find Us
You’ll find us in south Burnaby between Marine Drive and Marine Way, east of Byrne Road on Meadow Avenue. Our street location is 7528 Meadow Avenue, Burnaby.
Please note – this is not a mailing address, and no mail can be delivered here.
Drive along Meadow Avenue from either east or west. When you see the row of weeping willow trees just across from Leong’s Nursery, turn into our parking lot.
You are welcome to come to meet one of our directors and visit, but please remember that all plots are private property and no items or produce may be removed from any plot.
