BARAGA Bulletin March 22 2023

THEFT PREVENTION
As many know, we continue to have thefts at BARAGA. Here are some tips to prevent thefts that have been offered by our RCMP liaison.
  • Have windows in tool sheds so items inside are visible – thieves are less likely to break into sheds if they can’t see anything  valuable inside.
  • Don’t keep power tools or expensive items in sheds or greenhouses.
  • Pick produce as soon as it is ripe, to avoid people stealing produce from your plot
  • Get to know your neighbors, and their helpers, to help you recognize unauthorized people on their plots. Receive 1 hour of CSH credit for completing and submitting the “Get to Know Your Neighbor” form available on our website. For member login, the password is garden.

GREENHOUSE POLY GRADE PLASTIC
There is a large bundle of greenhouse plastic by our green container that was donated by a local greenhouse. If you need some more plastic, please take some but leave enough for others!
PRUNING
Now is the best time to prune fruit trees. Please remember Rule 8: Fruit bearing trees are limited to 2.13 (7 feet) in height while dormant… If you need help with a ladder, please contact directors.
SPRING CLEAN-UP
We had a very successful work party on March 11th with some surprise guests, Mayor Hurley, Elaine Wong and Councillors Chang and Lee. Thanks for your support and help. We started clearing some plots for new members, but some plots are still looking very neglected and unkept. It is never too late to start spring clean-up, now that SPRING IS HERE! Next work party is APRIL 8TH and first plot inspections MAY 6TH!
